Net-a-Porter wedding boutique is a silk and satin fantasy

Here’s the best way to avoid work that we’ve found in a while.

Net-a-Porter’s new wedding boutique is a tulle and satin dream world, with gowns, lingerie and even — hold us back, now — dresses perfect for wearing to a wedding as a guest (separated into beach, day, country and evening categories!). The designer offerings are just not what you see on typical bridal sites. Let’s browse a little, yes?

Something new and something blue, wrapped in one gorgeous package: Oscar De La Renta’s cute silk faille bustier dress, with its ripples of ivory silk accented with navy. The strapless dress has a built-in bodice and is fully lined; we want to see it walk down the aisle with delphiniums in the bouquet ($3,690, above).

Look: It’s a mother-of-the-bride dress that you will wear again. Donna Karan’s liquid satin dress drapes taupe fabric into a tasteful knee-length dress that easily travels from the church to the reception. The generous cut allows the dress to move with The Style Insider’s curves, and we  are grateful ($1,795, above left).

We adore this little Lanvin pearl grosgrain bracelet. The matte surface of the ribbon is a perfect counterpoint to the sheen of the gray pearls, and it seems perfect whether we’re dressing up or dressing down ($605, above right).

Could this be any prettier? Chris Benz’s O’Keefe silk print dress has a simple round neckline, pleat detailing in the front and a hidden side zipper; the color fades in and out as the print travels up and down the fabric. Of course, if you’re not supposed to compete with the bride on her day, you may be in trouble ($995, above left).

And if you are as smitten with that dress as we are, imagine completing the look with these Christian Louboutin pumps, with their peek-a-boo toe and 5-inch heels. OK, so you can’t wear them to a beach wedding, true. But wouldn’t they look great with that dress? ($860, above right).

We won’t go on and on, even though we could. The only nit we would pick is that there aren’t really enough “bridal” gowns on the site. Lots of clothes for everyone else, and accessories, but the gown pickings were a little slim. But they’ll probably add to the lineup, and besides, we just wanted to window-shop a bit. We already saw you bookmarking the site, anyway.
