Strut into 2009 with some knock-’em-dead shoes
Basically, there are two ways to show up at a New Year’s Eve party: One is wearing the safe look (as in black dress, black tights, black pumps). The second is to be amazing. Needless to say, we prefer you go for the latter. The only way to pull that off is with a pair of strut-your-stuff, fantastic shoes they’ll buzz about long after you stroll out the door.
Have some cash to burn? Make a bold statement for New Year’s with Christian Louboutin’s simple pumps in electric fuxia (otherwise known as fuschia). They are $575 at Barney’s (top left). Or perhaps you still have some Christmas money left over and fall in love with the Prada jeweled T-straps, also at Barney’s ($890, top right). Still shopping at the upper end? Then get oohs and aahs with Osklen’s gold laminated leather mini-booties ($765, above left) or some simple stunners by Rene’ Caovilla: crystal-encrusted swirling satin sandals, on sale for $360 at YOOX (above right). If you spent all your money on holiday cheer, try Steve Madden’s Gizela fuschia pumps. They look a lot like the Louboutins, but cost significantly less – $100.
If your date just happens to be the same height as you, wear these Lanvin Pouf Maryjanes. It’s a win-win situation, he will feel taller than usual and you won’t have to bend down for your New Year’s Eve kiss. And they are on sale at Barney’s for $299. Show off your party side with Via Spiga’s metallic shoes. We like the Silvia (above left, and the Lulu sandals (above right). They are both on sale for $117.90 at Nordstrom.
You can never go wrong with black patent, especially if they are Michael Kors’ ultra-sweet Berkley T-strap heels, a mere $129, above, at MichaelKors.com. Surprise! Dillard’s has the best shoe section of most any fairly mid-price department store out there. “Shoe” your crazy side with Gianni Bini’s Tasti heels. They are 40 percent off, making these babies $58.
Is your New Year’s resolution to show your softer, sweeter side? Start the year off right by wearing these feminine Kalisa rose pumps. Purple is the “it” color of the season, so you’ll be able to wear these shoes year round. Buy them at Baker’s for $50.
If you are looking for the perfect winter-wonderland white booties, look no further. Nine West reached perfection with the affordable and ultra-chic Taffela Boutique 9 ankle boots. We are crazy about the ruched fabric and the must-have sexy zipper in the back. They are on sale for $110, above. |
