moma-snowman-ornament-set

Who says snowpeople have to be white? What kind of a statement is that about the world, anyway? We much prefer a snow universe with as much diversity as possible, and that’s why we’re wild for the Museum of Modern Art’s eye-popping pink, green and fuschia snowman ornament set, all bundled up in turquoise, blue and bright green hats and buttons. Just think of the snowball fights under the tree ($20).

There are really just two things you need to know about Christopher Radko Christmas ornaments. One: You will never collect all of them, so don’t try. People have gone insane in the attempt. Two: You can, however, just have one. We really think you should buy this pink pig ornament, hang it on the tree and enjoy it. It is Radko at his pinkest, sparkly best, and we honestly cannot resist. At Macy’s ($45).

mercury-glass-bird-ornaments-smith-and-hawken

Mercury glass gives your tree the twinkle of a 19th-century holiday, catching the light and throwing it back with its textured silvery mold-blown glass. These exquisite nesting birds would be honored to be the shimmering partridges in your pear tree (or even your evergreen). From Smith & Hawken ($35 for set of two).

critter-ornaments-horchow

Thinking of adding a touch of whimsy to the tree?

We love these handcrafted glittery glass ornaments from Poland, fashioned in the shapes of a giraffe (avec polka dot bandana), a cat (with her own Santa hat), a frog (bundled up against the winter), a monkey (sporting a big bow at the neck) or a somewhat floral dog with floppy ears.

Each is about 8″ long, which would give your tree the illusion of colorful critter icicles. At Horchow ($65 each).

ornament-moma-fluted-onion-glass

We can just see this gorgeous piece of glass art sparkling high atop your tree. Trumpet-shaped flutes radiate from the clear-glass center of the Museum of Modern Art’s free-blown fluted onion ornament, which is made by a master craftsman in Italy. Jewel tones of violet, emerald, teal and gold shimmer with glitter from inside the onion-shaped orb ($28).

Check back throughout the next few weeks: We’ll feature a glorious assortment of fabulous ornaments, guaranteed to make your tree a sparkling success.

neiman-marcus-mini-faberge-egg-ornaments

Alas, we’ve finally accepted that we’re just not going to own a Faberge egg in our lifetime.

However, our heart leapt at the sight of these mini-Faberge ornaments, with 24-karat gold plating and oodles of hand-set Austrian crystals.

The rose trellis (upper left), blue pinecone (upper right), gold coronation (bottom left) or rosebud eggs are at Neiman Marcus ($95 each).

waterford-let-there-be-joy-ornamentIn honor of the 100th anniversary of the Times Square ball drop on New Year’s Eve, Waterford Crystal has created Let There Be Light , a 6” diameter silver-white Masterpiece Ball ornament with texturing on both outside and inside for extra sparkle, ($170, above). It’s the first edition in their World of Celebrations collection; the second edition, 2009’s Let There be Joy, ($98, left) has already been created as well. At Waterford.
