This year there’s a sleighful of shiny, sequined clutches for you to hold during your dramatic entrance at the holiday parties.

Yes, you’d love a fabulous, sparkly bag from the queen of tiny shiny things, Judith Leiber. But they cost thousands and . . . well, OK, we can’t resist showing you a few, just to get you in the party mood. 

Her Austrian-crystal encrusted Nymph clutch is amazing (and should be for $4,495, top left), the ruby red Glisten bag is stunning (top right), and then there are tiny works of art like the Karma Buddha bag and the Peacock, above.

If you can swing it, a sleek Prada degrade sequined clutch is beautiful and a little less pricey at $1,250 (above). Still too much? 

Whiting + Davis has been making pretty sparkling clutches — at much lower prices - for decades. They have a whole lineup at Nordstrom, such as the vintage-styled Bella bag for $168 (below, left). 

Express has an awesome modern metallic mesh clutch on sale for $29.70 (above right). The black and silver combo almost guarantees that this clutch will go with anything. We absolutely love Banana Republic’s bronze sequin clutch. It’s elegant yet fun, bold but not too flashy. Not a fan of bronze? Banana Republic also makes it in silver and black, and it’s on sale for $50.

Betsey Johnson can make a bad girl look oh, so good with her skull and cross bones treasure clutch. The wrist strap is great for any party girl who loses her handbag easily. It’s $130. Rather walk on the wild side? We also love Betsey Johnson’s popular leopard sequin clutch, $134.

Designer Julia Coco offers a variety of colors for her kisslock envelope clutch. This high wattage bag comes with an optional chain strap (perfect when your two hands are busy holding martinis). It’s from Forzieri.com, $118. Forever 21 makes a cheap ‘n’ chic shoulder bag that’s perfect for the laid-back chica. The best part about it is the price — only $12.80!

Great things come in small packages with Elissa Bloom’s fun sequin purses. This New York-based designer started her line six years ago and has been featured in Brides, US Weekly and others. Our favorites are the peace sign coin purse ($26) and the silver rose clutch ($55), both pictured above. The company donates a portion of this bag’s sale to ovarian cancer research. 

You can’t consider sparkling evening bags if you don’t think vintage. Sequinned, glittering little bags were hot as far back as the late 1800s, and were really chic in the 1920s. Shops like Michelle’s Vintage Jewelry has lovely bags from throughout the decades, such as the beaded White Roses bag for $75 (above, right).

Before we bid adieu to the upper echelons of tiny shiny things, we feel compelled to wag a finger at  Timmy Woods of Beverly Hills. His outrageous, odd and sometimes downright silly bags — everything from horses’ heads to sparkly Yorkshire terriers — must appeal to some, because his creations are far from cheap.  Consider his sparkling gingerbread house  for $1,300 (left) or the Queen of York. Yes, those are bags.
