Isaac Mizrahi ready to reinvent a listless Liz Claiborne line
After more than five years as the high-fashion-meets-low-cost design guru at Target, You can learn more about it on FabSugar, and Wowowow has a witty piece by style sage Billy Norwich. The pictures of the collection (two above) are all over the fashion blogosphere. Mizrahi was, of course, a smashing success for Target, bringing in as much as $300 million in a year, and he’ll reportedly be bringing home a much larger paycheck from Liz.
Apparently he has his work cut out for him, according to WWD. The Claiborne company’s sales have been dropping, and the designs have been in the doldrums for years. It was not so many years ago that Claiborne was synonymous with middle-priced high-quality style. So who better to revitalize things - and perhaps bring in a new, younger shopper - than the omnipresent Mizrahi? The Claiborne clothes are sold at Macys and Mizrahi’s line will hit stores in February. |
