Size does matter: A medley of wee, wonderful gifts
Everyone knows the best things come in small packages, e.g. diamonds and babies. (Well, except for a car, a house or a pony.) We’ve rounded up some penny-wise “little somethings” that may not be as exciting as a diamond, but they’re practical and shrunken for your amusement.
When hunger calls, the only thing we care about is getting every straggler French fry at the bottom of the bag. (Somehow those always taste best.) Occasionally we’ll remember to lick our fingers, but the majority of the time our lunchtime remnants make their way into the crevices of the computer keyboard. Have no fear, the USB vacuum is here! Save the toothpick for its intended purpose, and keep your keys crumb-free with this nifty mini-version of that household cleaning tool ($15, above left). This is a must-have for any jet-setter, multi-tasker, late-sleeper or owner of a large handbag with too much extra space. Sephora’s face and eye travel tool kit of varied makeup brushes will give you more time to tease that hair now that your face can be retouched virtually anywhere, any time ($32, above right).
We all have those friends that never stop moving. Heck, you might be one of them. Save the spa gift certificate for a post-breakup remedy and promote their on-the-go lifestyle. Flight 001 creates fun and useful gadgets for stylish travelers with their just-about-anything in travel-size. A few of our favorites are the SheMergency survival kit ($25, above left), because , well, we women can be walking soap operas at times and ”emergencies” happen. In this kit you’ll find everything from earring backs to breath freshener. The hang-out hammock ($17, above right) is a full-sized hammock for park- and nature-goers that folds up into a tiny ball. Thus, you can have your daydreaming, kissing, reading or resting sessions anywhere you Smallest of them all from Flight 001 is the Ikimono 110 keychain camera ($20, right). ‘Nuff said. Neiman Marcus does it again this year with a stocking-full of glamorous gift options for those who need just a little bit of luxury. Everyday stick-on wall hooks from Target and a generic game of jacks for the kids do not make the cut for this indulgent crowd. Go for the mini purse-shaped handbag hangers ($40, above left) so she can easily display her new YSL. Then treat your little princess with silver-plated fashion jacks ($60, above right) in the shape of mini heels and purses. Did we mention they’re detailed with crystals? And we wonder why our young ones expect iPhones and Louis Vuittons before they can spell “spoiled.” Okay, enough of the mini stuff. Ever look at something and wonder, Wouldn’t that be cool if I could just make this a gazillion times bigger? Like a Ken doll when the pickings are slim at happy hour, or your Some incredibly smart person thought the same thing about ear buds, and voila! Now we have ear bud speakers ($40, from Urban Outfitters, left). Just plug this extra-large version of ear buds into your iPod (or other portable music device for those living in the middle ages) and you’ve got a sound system to tune out your off-key sing-a-longs with that Mariah Carey Christmas CD. |
