Net-a-Porter’s Outnet is open, and it’s making us giddy

Be still our hearts. The Outnet is open.

The Outnet is the just-launched online outlet store of Net-a-Porter, arguably the Web’s the-outnet-logodreamiest shopping site. Its combination of designer wear, shoes and handbags is unparalleled (and hey, if you know a site that beats it, please please let us know), but the prices tend to be designer as well.

Which means The Style Insider’s brain threw a little neuron party when we saw some of the numbers on Outnet — 50 percent off, 60 percent off, 70 percent off. We have died and gone to heaven.

The designers are there — McQueen, Sui, Chloe, Choo. There’s Marc and Vera, Donna and Diane, Lim and L’Wren, Kors and Klein. There’s Old Guard and New — Oscar de la Renta and Narciso Rodriguez. And in a stunningly customer-friendly gesture, Outnet boldfaces the names of the designers they have in stock at a given moment, saving you from doing searches that go nowhere.

The site has tabs for Clothing, Bags, Shoes, Accessories, Dress Me and Flash Sales. A quick surf through Clothing (you can search by “recommended,” price and amount of discount) found us a $158 Juicy Couture hibiscus print top for $79 (above left), a pair of $188 Marc by Marc Jacobs stretch skinny jeans for $94 (above right), a cute Michael Kors lattice A-line dress that was $1,595 and is now $319 (below left), which is 80 percent off if you’re doing the math, and a flouncy Tibi strapless chiffon dress (prom, anyone?) that was $480 and is now $184 (below right). Right now on the site there are 509 clothing items, and we imagine that number will only grow.

Other head counts: 24 handbags, 122 shoes, 51 accessories. TSI goes a little giddy when we see discounted handbags, so we’d like to point out this perfect-for-spring Zac Posen Zac Sac shoulder bag ($259, was $1,295, above)  and the huge (and by huge we mean 22″ by 19″ by 6″)  aqua leather See by Chloe tote (can you say laptop at the beach?) that was $720 and is now $288 (below).

Shoes are just as satisfying, but you have to be speedy — we found a gorgeous pair of black Christian Louboutin heels, but they were sold out before we could write about them. We’ll show you these Roberto Cavalli basketweave sandals ($290, originally $725) and these adorable Louboutin ballerina flats ($238, originally $595), but they may already be gone, so go browse for yourself.

We sense we’re losing you already, because you’re dying to get there and click around. Give us a few more seconds. “Dress Me” is a brilliant little situation-shopping page, where you click on such things as Vacation Planner, Chic Essentials, Working Wardrobe or Social Events (first date, meet the parents, always the bridesmaid, cocktail hour) for outfit suggestions — selections of clothes, shoes and accessories appropriate to the moment.

And Flash Sales explains the site’s extra-extra-extra sales, which include “Going, Going, Gone” (the clock ticks, the price drops, you see how long you can wait; current item: a $1,900 red Chloe East-West bag, above), 72-Hour Pop-Up Sales (next up:  spring dresses up to 80 percent off, starting April 24), and Giveaways, which haven’t begun yet.

OK. We hear you. Go. Enjoy. Shop. And please, leave that Marchesa tuxedo-front LBD alone. That’s ours.
