Be still our hearts. The Outnet is open. The Outnet is the just-launched online outlet store of Net-a-Porter, arguably the Web’s Which means The Style Insider’s brain threw a little neuron party when we saw some of the numbers on Outnet — 50 percent off, 60 percent off, 70 percent off. We have died and gone to heaven. The designers are there — McQueen, Sui, Chloe, Choo. There’s Marc (more…)
When is shopping for spring sandals not good enough? When you stick to the same boring retailers and see the same names from season to season. Cease and desist, we say. Here are 10 cute pairs of sandals, from 10 excellent Web sites that you may have never seen before. Some of them aren’t completely outside the box, but we bet you haven’t seen them all. (And if you’re a fashion blogger, you don’t count.)
Here’s what we are excited about: (more…) The Style Insider doesn’t have to tell you why we love Lucky Brand Jeans. We are completely under their spell. We could write sonnets. We could bribe store clerks. We could get a little bit obsessive, even, and have a different pair for every day of the week. But we’ve never been happy about the price. Lucky Brand Jeans like to float around in the $100-$150 bubble, and we aren’t near that bubble these days. Today, however, things are different. We have a happy little 40 percent off product code that’s good for everything — and by everything, what we mean is everything — on the Lucky Brand Web site, (more…)
Here’s the best way to avoid work that we’ve found in a while. Net-a-Porter’s new wedding boutique is a tulle and satin dream world, with gowns, lingerie and even — hold us back, now — dresses perfect for wearing to a wedding as a guest (separated into beach, day, country and evening categories!). The designer offerings are just not what you see on typical bridal sites. Let’s browse a little, yes? Something new and something blue, wrapped in one gorgeous package: Oscar De La Renta’s cute silk faille bustier dress, with its (more…) Modelinia is a Web site where you can learn all the details about your favorite fashion models. For example, did you know that deep inside, Chanel Iman is a shy girl? Coco Rocha is not just beautiful, but she’s a good dancer, too! And Hanne Gaby Odiele, the young hot model from Belgium, really liked the breakfast backstage at the Balenciaga show. We couldn’t help but linger over a 5-part video series titled “High Heel Boot Camp,” hosted by the natty creative director of Barney’s New York, Simon Doonan.
Followers of The Style Insider know that we are over the top about Net-A-Porter, the online site that sells all manner of designer clothes, handbags, shoes and accessories. Their list of designers is exhaustive, whether American or European; it’s where you’ll find everything from Prada sunglasses to Herve Leger bandage dresses, from Alice + Olivia to Zac Posen. Their boutiques-within-the-site include Salon, Cutting Edge, Contemporary, Essentials, Loungewear and Vacation; each has scrumptious selections that are perfect for one mood or the other.
Now that America has been thoroughly Sephora-ed, we’re on a first-name basis with product lines that used to be unfamiliar: Smashbox, Too Faced, Benefit, Jurlique, Tarte and on and on. Enter PIR Cosmetics, a Toronto-based cosmetics shop that has an amazing Web site overflowing with “cult” and “upmarket” products that you could normally only get in hip boutiques or other countries (especially Europe). You probably didn’t even know all the fabulousness you were missing out on.
The shop was created by celebrity makeup artist Franchie Pir in 2002. They had a store in New York City until recently, but the (more…) |
