The sun has come out, and with it, our annual lusting for light and bright things to sprinkle around the house, reflecting the new season and our hopefully tasteful aesthetic. It’s a challenge, what with the recession and all, but we still love to look. We’re all familiar with the lose-weight/save-money/get-organized school of New Year’s Resolutions, but The Style Insider would like to propose another curriculum: Renew your space. Whether it’s a studio loft or a sprawling estate, adding something beautiful to bring in 2009 will make you happy all year long. Just whisper to yourself that you’re worth it:
Artful Home is our new full-time obsession. The entire job description of the site is to bring art into our lives and our homes, and we yearn to cooperate. We are focusing on the Christmas tree right now, so we are dying for artist Matthew Buechner’s Red Glass Box. It’s handmade of red mold-blown glass with gold foil highlights and a delicate molten glass ribbon tied on top ($49). Want to see all of their artistic, delicate and pretty ornaments? They’re all here.
There are wine glasses for sipping Chardonnay on the patio, and they can’t cost much or you wouldn’t take them outdoors. There are large wine glasses for when you’ve had a tough day at work, though we prefer to call them tumblers. And then there are wine glasses for the Thanksgiving table, which can be all exquisite shimmer and delicate shape. Make that holiday toast to good health and thankfulness among your family and friends a beautiful one with some striking stemware.
