Put your best tote forward and carry your laptop in style

It is supposed to be spring! Enough with the rain and the chill and the gloom. The Style Insider is ready to be done with all things blah, and we’ve recently realized that we are as tired as can be of our sturdy little black canvas laptop case. So we’ve put together a social network of laptop totes chic enough to fly first-class and versatile enough to carry all your vital tech devices:

We like nearly everything Clark & Mayfield makes, and their Metro-Express laptop tote (above left)is on the top of our list. The black houndstooth print is eye-catching and classy; the lines are sleek, and the price is sane. At eBags ($90, 15.75″ by 13″ by 5″). If you’re a lady in red, you might be more partial to their Rosemont ($80, 13″ by 14.5″ by 5″, above right); both bags got 8s and 9s in eBags’ customer reviews.

Color, color, color. Baekgaard laptop totes come in just about any shade you can imagine, including such delicious-sounding hues as Caribbean Blue (above), Bubble Gum, Lemon, Azalea and Key Lime. They’re more expensive, but they’re all leather. ($175, 12.5″ by 17.5″ by 4.5″). And in a Neopolitan sort of salivary response, we’re drooling over Mango Tango’s canvas stripe laptop bag, in pink, olive and gray (below left). At a pound and a half, it’s one of the lighter bags we found ($40, 15.5″ by 11.5″ by 3.5″).

If color isn’t enough, TSI found a couple of totes for the graphic designer in all of us. Kailo Chic’s laptop sleeve (above right) in the Mod Circles pattern is both busy and efficient, meeting all parts of its mission statement ($28, 11″ by 15.5″ by 1.75″); Tokidoki’s Immagini laptop bag  (below left) is Japanese-inspired, letting your audience know with a touch of animé that you’re a creative force. At Nordstrom ($178, 15″ by 11″ by 3″).

Perhaps we should calm it all down a bit. Perhaps you feel the need for a laptop tote that says you are calm and in control. That would be either the Leatherbay classic leather computer bag  ($226, 13″ by 17″ by 5″, above right), with its tailored silhouette and buckled-shut pockets, or the Rebecca Minkoff tall French tote, which is soft leather in earthy tones that would coordinate with any outfit beautifully. At Bluefly ($426, 16.5″ by 15″ by 3.5″). We’re also very partial to the Mobile Edge Madison two-tone canvas tote; it’s very large, and it looks a little like wingtip shoes on the go ($160, 18.25″ by 14.5″ by 5.5″).

And before we leave, let’s just hit fantasyland for a minute, shall we? TSI thinks the Salvatore Ferragamo Gancio laptop case (above) would be right at home in business class to Europe; with three individual compartments, it might make security go a little faster. At Saks Fifth Avenue ($1,250, 16″ by 11.25″ by 3.75″). And when you win the lottery, go for the Fendi cherry leather large tote, (below) a bright red natural leather tote that allows for a touch of whimsy and says there is so much more to you than meets the eye. At Bluefly ($1,432, 16.5″ by 12.75″ by 5.75″).
