Don’t be shy - don a new hat for fall

Flamboyant fashionistas have long understood the impact of a great hat. Just look at those S&TC London premiere pics of Sarah Jessica Parker in her Philip Treacy cocktail hat.

Now the rest of us style-obsessed folks may soon come to appreciate this singular accessory. Hats were a prominent feature at many fall 2008 fashion shows.  Designers accessorized their runway looks with an assortment of berets, knit caps, cocktail hats, floppy fedoras, newsboy styles and more.

Like the vest - another popular trend this fall - hats are something that most serious shoppers don’t buy in bulk. If you find your closet is lacking in the hat department, step back and consider what type of hat girl you might be.

Young 20-somethings might prefer knit caps or sassy newsboy hats to wear with their Ts and jeans.  Dressier divas will gravitate toward cocktail hats and fedoras, while the Bohemian girls will be berets and ski hats all the way.

Don’t be too quick to assume that hats are not for you. Try some on and consider the possibilities.
