We’re celebrating National Wear Red Day today (Feb. 6), surfing around for the prettiest dresses and accessories we can find, all helping mark awareness of women’s heart health. You’ll see women in the workplace in red, women in the stores in red, and women on television in red (we’re hoping for a clean sweep on The View!), so don’t hesitate to pull it out of your closet as well. And we probably don’t have to remind you, Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. Take a peek:

The Style Insider believes that champagne flutes should be a party unto themselves. Yes, they must be classically shaped — tall, with the small mouth that preserves the bubbles so they tickle your nose. But they must also be effervescent in their design. To that end, we’ve found a dozen pretty glasses worth ringing in 2009:

white-and-warren-ombre-travel-wrapNow we are down to sheer desperation and plain old panic. You haven’t found the perfect gift for your wife/girlfriend/daughter/significant other. (Or he hasn’t found the right thing for you). The awful economy has led to a lot of ”practical” items that will likely not generate much Ho-Ho-Hoing.

To your rescue – five classic fashion gifts with which you absolutely, positively can never go wrong. One of these can last many years, some a lifetime. Take our advice, and you’ll be kissin’ under the mistletoe by 9 a.m. (Send your man this URL if he needs a gentle prod.)

1. A beautiful cashmere scarf or wrap: All the better stores should have plenty of these still on shelves. Two top labels to look for are Burberry and Loro Piana. Also nice, and slightly less expensive are Emilio Pucci for a dash of color and plush White + Warren (this long ombre scarf, above, is great).

We are imagining smiles on Christmas morning. Not just ordinary smiles, but smiles of surprise, smiles that say, “It’s perfect!” and, every once in a while, an “OMG!”

You too? Then come shopping with us. We’ve got a handful of cool presents that aren’t a dime a dozen.

What is Christmas, exactly, if not an occasion to actually see your children clean and dressed up? To see little girls in pretty gathers and bows, and little boys in tucks and creases? The textures of the day are velvet and corduroy; both fabrics that feel warm, hang well and go through the wash after lunch if you’re absolutely desperate.

Infants are a piece of cake - you can buy anything you want and dress them in it! Baby CZ’s Grace dress surrounds her in red velvet with a silk bow ($150, above); we also have to admit to loving Tartine et Chocolat’s Cortege dress, in grey or rose with glittering rhinestones at the waist ($139). For that tiny boy, we can’t believe the cute factor of the Baby Dior snap-shoulder overalls ($176) over their long-sleeve bodysuit ($91), but we’re also pretty smitten with the baby Burberry overalls, if you’d rather ($94.50, below), mostly just due to those little plaid cuffs.

You’ve admired the athleticism, strength and grace of the Olympic women (or should we say “girl”) gymnasts.

You’ve studied their shiny uniforms. And admit it, you just love their cute and glittery makeup and hair. They all have the same ‘do: tight ponytail topped with a scrunchie, and ubiquitous clippies of all shapes and sizes to tuck away errant tendrils.
